The 2023 IPA World Congress + Probiota, brought to you by NutraIngredients, was a three-day event held from February 6th to February 8th that brought together scientific experts, business leaders, and practitioners in the probiotic industry. The conference in Barcelona, Spain, was attended by about 500 people from all over the world, who came to hear from and network with experts in the field.
There were keynote presentations from academic and industry experts focused on prebiotics, probiotics, synbiotics, and postbiotics. The industry challenges and regulatory landscape across Europe in the biotics space were also discussed. More than 40 scientific posters were presented covering basic and clinical research on biotics.
Participation from leading companies, including ADM, Chr. Hansen, Cargill, IFF Health, AB-Biotics, Kerry, Morinaga, Probiotical, Puratos, and Lallemand, made the conference engaging and provided networking opportunities with industry thought leaders.
Another highlight of Probiota was
panel discussions and round-table lunch conversations on topics relevant to biotics research, technologies, and commercialization. NemaLife was invited to lead a round-table discussion on high throughput technologies for probiotic strain discovery led by Dhaval Patel, Ph.D., Director of Research and Innovation.
Several startups also attended the Probiota meeting. Three startups, including NemaLife, were recognized by NutraIngredients as Probiota Pioneers. These companies discussed innovative technologies and products entering the microbiome modulation space.
One of the most popular social events at the conference was the Chr. Hansen 5k Run & Walk, and the Probiota Social Evening held at Barcelona’s oldest brewery Fabrica Moritz. Both events brought attendees from all walks of life to mingle and build lasting relationships.
Overall, the 2023 Probiota was a huge success, bringing together some of the brightest minds in the probiotic industry and providing a platform for knowledge-sharing and networking.
